If you’re a fan of the Corvette brand, then you might be delighted to know General Motors is developing an array of high-performance electric vehicles. These would include a two-door corvette suv, four-door Corvette liftback and full-size crossover model according to Car and Driver.
AI created the initial concepts for Chevrolet’s electric Corvettes, and some of them look excellent.
It’s a hybrid
America’s beloved mid-engine sports car will soon have a unique addition to its lineup: a hybrid vehicle. The Corvette E-Ray, due out later this year, marks an unorthodox decision by Chevrolet.
In 2019, Chevrolet discontinued plug-in hybrids to focus on electric vehicles (EVs). This Corvette utilizes an electric front motor and battery pack, but engineers say their focus here is on optimizing performance over fuel economy.
The 1.9 kilowatt-hour battery pack mounted between the seats is charged when the car slows or brakes, or while driving. General Motors has yet to disclose fuel economy estimates, but high-performance hybrid cars often get better mileage than what EPA estimates indicate.
It’s an EV
Autoline Network reports that Chevrolet may be planning to build an electric SUV at their Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan. If this becomes reality, customers could get to experience this revolutionary sports car as early as 2026.
According to reports, the SUV will be built upon Ford’s Ultium platform for enhanced shape, stance and engineering versatility. Additionally, it boasts up to 800V battery pack capacity as well as 350 kW fast charging capability.
Chevrolet’s strategy to challenge the competition is intriguing, though some high-end sports car enthusiasts may not find this approach pleasing.
The first Corvette hybrid, the E-Ray, is currently under development and set for launch soon. It features a mid-mounted V8 engine combined with two electric motors – an excellent way for Chevrolet to demonstrate their progressive side while also moving towards electrification as an effort to reduce fossil fuel usage. It’s a trail-focused SUV
SUVs have become a go-to choice for buyers seeking rugged construction, advanced technology and luxurious comfort. So it’s no surprise that GM is looking to capitalize on this growing market segment by adding another SUV model to their lineup.
For many Corvette enthusiasts, driving their sports car on city streets or track days has been an exhilarating experience. But now GM could potentially offer performance enthusiasts an exciting take on the SUV with sleek lines inspired by the sports car while providing more cargo space and enhanced passenger comfort. If they are serious about creating such an exciting take on the SUV, we hope to see it sport a body style similar to that of the sports car while offering more cargo space and improved passenger comfort levels.
If the new SUV does feature an electric drivetrain, it should be capable of handling a variety of terrains and weather conditions without breaking a sweat. This will set it apart from competitors and boost sales. Furthermore, the 2025 Corvette SUV should boast an extensive list of safety and driver assistance technologies.
It’s a family vehicle
General Motors may be developing an electric-powered Corvette SUV. The automaker plans to expand the Corvette name into a family of high-performance vehicles similar to Ford’s Mustang Mach-E model.
Corvette will introduce a four-door coupe and crossover model to its lineup, adding mainstream exclusivity and overt luxury to the iconic nameplate that currently generates only a fraction of Chevrolet’s profits.
Though a Corvette SUV may seem far-fetched to some sports car enthusiasts, SUVs have taken on an aggressive aesthetic with vehicles from Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini.
Timothy Adry Emmanuel recently rendered a concept image for a potential Corvette SUV. This rendering draws heavily from the Corvette design language, featuring a compact body similar to the Stingray’s exterior, badging, plastic cladding on the wheel arches and large wheels. Furthermore, there’s an integrated multilayered dashboard complete with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
